broke and still have a life (II)

In part I of “broke and still have a life”, I shared about GoLibrary and the Esplanade with their wide array of never-drying and never dry programmes and activities presented free for all.

In part II here, I will tell you about three free lessons of very different nature conducted by kind souls. Please do not misuse or abuse such opportunities and do have the courtesy to express your gratitude and help to keep the venue in a good condition.

1. Learn Biblical Hebrew for Free

I have attended the first class held on 5th October 2012 and am still attending the weekly classes. Apart from learning to read and write the alphabets as well as how to pronounce them collectively, new words and vocabulary will be taught in every lesson, coupled with reading a line or two from the Holy Bible. Sometimes, we also sing simple songs in Hebrew.

The course serves as an excellent start for someone who is serious about picking up the language while it is enjoyable and interesting for others who want to have a feel of this Afro-Asiatic language. The class is small and everyone is free to ask questions and read out loud. Everyone is friendly and a keen learner.

Check out Beng’s Biblical Hebrew Homepage for more details.

Venue: Balestier Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 120 Balestier Road, Singapore 329680

Class time: every Friday, 7.30-9pm

2. Free Hatha Yoga Course

I picked up one of their flyers at Junction 8 and dropped by their venue on the second session. Upon my enquiry, one of the coordinators explained that this was the initiative of an Indian engineer, who learned at and benefited from the free Yoga classes given by a master yogi back in India. The master is no longer around but the beneficiary wants to carry on the spirit of giving free Yoga courses.

They were taking about 120 people for this first batch of students at this new venue as the waiting list went on. I was told that the second intake would commence on 8th January 2013. Log on to www.yoganikam.org for details and updates.

Current venue: (Bishan) Junction 8, open plaza level 3

Current class time: every Tuesday, 7-9pm

Registration: starts at 6.15pm on the first day of a new intake and on a first-come-first-served basis.

3. Free Session: Now Get Money to Grow Your Business

This is a usually once-a-month business coaching session to help attendees empower themselves and their business to fly. Conducted by Fly Your Biz, the session is “probably the only Action and Result-based Biz Program that is fused with concepts of Logical and Creativity, and Asian and Western strategies, designed by Biz Coach of Art of Biz, David K K Kwan”.

Each session is limited to the first 10 people who register for it, do Like their Fly Your Biz facebook page and find out more from them. Leave a note on their wall/timeline if you have any question or to request an invitation to the next session.

I encourage you to do some homework beforehand and have a framework of concepts or toward what direction you want your enterprise/endeavour to head, while keeping an open mind.
