The Museum Volunteers group’s recruitment drive is now on for volunteer docents to guide public tours in English on Friday evenings as well as weekends at Singapore Art Museum!

Application deadline is 10th May 2015.

The Singapore Art Museum is most probably the only art museum in the world to focus on Asian contemporary art, and especially Southeast Asian contemporary art. It does not have any permanent gallery and almost all of its exhibitions are renewed with new themes and artworks every three to nine months.

If you are interested and want to know more, do attend one of the public briefings to be held at Glass Hall at Singapore Art Museum, at 1pm on both dates:

Saturdays, 11th & 25th April 2015

You may even get a chance to join a short tour of the museum to get an idea of a guided tour in an art space!

Do refer to the Frequently Asked Questions page and the application form (refer to the application form for information even though you may not have made up your mind) for the details of the volunteer programme. Read them thoroughly and consider carefully, a volunteer’s commitment is highly emphasised and much appreciated by the group.

Also take note of the various dates as you embark on exploring this opportunity, step by step, starting from the public briefing dates.

If you are also interested in other museums, you may keep a lookout for the MV Recruitment Booth at National Museum of Singapore during the International Museum Day cum Singapore Heritage Festival weekend on the 16th & 17th of May 2015, from 10am to 6pm.

Initiated in 1977 by the International Council Of Museums (ICOM), the 18th of May every year is the International Museum Day (IMD), which represents a unique moment for the international museum community.
