I have talked about a couple of dishes by the same restaurant in Post (19), and now let’s move on to its desserts. I will not comment on them one by one, in a nutshell, out of the four desserts ordered, I found only the Pineapple Upside Down Cake to be unique. Although paying SGD12++ for it is deemed not worth it, still, I would order it on special occasions.
The other three desserts gave me the impression that, the kitchen had been too eager to impress diners, hence these homely delights were overly rich (too sweet, too thick, too large, too elaborate), considering that they authentically already belong to the “rich food” category.
I have come to realise that, it can be very challenging for a restaurant to sell food that may be prepared in just a slightly well-equipped family kitchen. And it is even more challenging to sell such food to people who know how to cook them or who have tasted much nicer ones at a fraction of the restaurant prices.
